Opportunity to Support Funding for F2F HICs

Funding for Family to Family Health Information Centers (F2F HICs ) centers in all other states and the District of Columbia may run out at the end of federal fiscal year 2009 if no action is taken by the Senate Finance Committee. HICs are statewide, information and referral centers that provide families with information about how to obtain and finance health care for their children/youth with special health care needs (CYSHCN) such as disabilities and chronic medical conditions. They were created in Title V of the Social Security Act as part of the Family Opportunity Act/Deficit Reduction Act of 2005.

Families interested in contacting their Senators to advocate for funding on F2F HICs easily do so at this link: steps are: put in your ZIP code; click on Take Action; then check boxes to both Senator Bayh and Senator Lugar and the "canned letter" which you can add to will appear
