ACA and Children with Special Health Care Needs

FV Indiana has received requests from our members for more information about the Affordable Care Act, specifically what it means for their children. We are excited to share a wonderful resource from the The Catalyst Center . The just released paper, The Affordable Care Act and Children with Special Health Care Needs: An Analysis and Steps for State Policymakers, provides clear and comprehensive information on this topic. Additional resources related to the ACA can be found under our previous post. Please share these resources with other families who would like to learn more.

DDRS Bulletin

FV Indiana knows how important it is for our members to stay up to date about changes to the systems and services that impact their loved one. We urge our members to take a few minutes and read the DDRS Quarterly Update that was released today. It can be found online at: http://www.in.gov/fssa/files/Quarterly_Update_1-2011.pdf.

This update contains information about changes to First Steps, Medicaid Waivers, an explanation of Objective Based Allocation (including the appeals process), an explanation of DDRS legislative agenda and process for review and public comment on policy changes, and many other topics.

Members are also encouraged to take advantage of opportunities for public comment on policy and to connect with your legislators about the proposed legislation. You may find it helpful to review our Guide to the Legislative Session.
