Dear Hoosier Care Connect Stakeholder:
The Indiana Family and Social Services Administration (FSSA) has been informed that, effective, MDwise will no longer be an authorized health plan for Hoosier Care Connect. Both Managed Health Services (MHS) and Anthem will remain with the program, so current Hoosier Care Connect members will have the option to choose either MHS or Anthem to coordinate their care.
FSSA is working with MDwise, MHS, Anthem and our contractors to coordinate a communications plan to inform members and other stakeholders of this important change.
Members who are currently served by MDwise will receive a letter in the next week, and a second letter approximately, informing them that there will be a one-month, open enrollment period, starting . Members who have not chosen either MHS or Anthem by , will be assigned to one of the two remaining health plans.
The auto-assignment process has logic that matches people with managed care entity (MCE) networks based on whether the member’s existing providers are in those networks. The process endeavors to match the person with the plan that has their primary medical provider enrolled. If a member is unhappy with their assigned plan and wishes to change, they will have an opportunity to change MCEs until. In addition, members will need to contact their new MCE and inquire about in-network pharmacies. It is important to note that MDwise members only use Walgreens and Anthem and MHS members cannot use Walgreens.
Members will continue to receive the full benefits of the Hoosier Care Connect program and MDwise and FSSA will work with MHS and Anthem to make the transition as seamless as possible so that the impact on members is minimal.
Hoosier Care Connect is a managed care program for Hoosiers age 65 and over, or with blindness or a disability who live in the community and are not eligible for Medicare. Hoosier Care Connect promotes preventive and comprehensive coordinated care, addressing the physical, behavioral, medical and social needs of members. The program helps increase consumer engagement in the management and treatment of their conditions. As of December 31, 2016, there were 94,567 total HCC members and 39,785 were being served by MDwise.
MDwise will continue to serve Healthy Indiana Plan and Hoosier Healthwise members.
We encourage you to share this message with others who may be interested. We have appreciated the strong collaboration of the stakeholder community in making the Hoosier Care Connect program a success and we thank you in advance for your efforts in helping the MDwise members through this transition.
