Action Alert: Save Medicaid

We're tired. We know you're tired. But, we need to PROTECT HEALTHCARE for our kids.

Medicaid and ACA Advocates—

We need everyone to activate their networks to protect Medicaid!

We are hearing alarming news that a last-ditch effort to repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act is gaining traction in the Senate.

Indications are that the Graham-Cassidy health care repeal bill is only a couple of votes away (only needing a simple majority to pass) and has moved up on the priority list for Senate Republican leadership to get done before the end of the month.

Like the previous bills, the bill would not go through Committees or mark up and would go straight to the floor for a vote.  There is not yet a CBO score, but we understand that Senator McConnell has asked the CBO to speed up its scoring of the bill, which must happen before a vote under the rules.

It is imperative that all advocates tell their Members of Congress to oppose the Graham-Cassidy bill and any cuts to Medicaid.

This bill includes per capita caps and block grants that would restructure and dramatically cut the Medicaid program, and would phase out the Medicaid expansion and marketplace subsidies in the Affordable Care Act. It would also allow states to also waive protections for people with pre-existing conditions.

This bill would be devastating to people with disabilities and their families and threaten access to community living, employment opportunities, and educational supports.

We need everyone to activate their networks to get them to reach out to the Senators to oppose this bill.

You can call your Senator through the Capitol Switchboard (202-224-3121) or be connected directly to your Republican Senator (of if none, House member) at 866-426-2631.

Ask them to:
·       Oppose the Graham-Cassidy bill
·       Oppose any bill that makes cuts to Medicaid
·       Work in a bipartisan fashion to protect and improve the Affordable Care Act and Medicaid
