Stakeholder survey for FS/CIH waiver renewals

The Division of Disability and Rehabilitative Services will be pursuing renewals of the Community Integration and Habilitation waiver, and the Family Supports waiver. The renewal process is required by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services for the continued operation of these waivers. As part of these renewals, DDRS is reaching out to stakeholders to collect information about service capacity, experiences and access to services on each waiver. We are encouraging providers, case managers, individuals and families, to complete an online survey. The survey takes approximately 15 minutes to complete. Your responses are anonymous, and your answers will be used to improve and enhance services and supports offered by the Bureau of Developmental Disabilities Services. The online survey is available by clicking here and will be open from December 13, 2018 to January 12, 2019.

Insurance Coverage options for people with disabilities

If you have a disability, you have a number of options for health coverage. If you currently have Medicaid or Medicare, you’re considered covered under the health care law and don’t need a Marketplace plan. If you don’t have health coverage, you can fill out a Marketplace application to find out if you qualify for savings on a private health plan or for coverage through Medicaid. Talking Matters: A Loving Mother’s Commitment to Honor Her Daughter’s End-of-Life Wishes

by Cara Coleman I have struggled with how to begin to write about our experiences with trying to have the conversation about end-of-life wishes with our providers in the last year of our daughter Justice Hope’s life. The struggle I feel is an emotional, complex, ugly web. Unfortunately, the stickiest arms of the web are formed by bad experiences and trauma; years of navigating systems that thrive in the contradiction of simultaneously valuing and disregarding your child and your parental role, value and skills. ACA Coverage for pre-existing conditions

All Marketplace plans must cover treatment for pre-existing medical conditions. No insurance plan can reject you, charge you more, or refuse to pay for essential health benefits for any condition you had before your coverage started.Once you’re enrolled, the plan can’t deny you coverage or raise your rates based only on your health.Medicaid and the Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP) also can't refuse to cover you or charge you more because of your pre-existing condition.
